Why is my rat shivering?
Quivering/Vibrating This behaviour is literally the rats feeling something too intensely for them to express. It can be a sign of nerves, but can also be a sign of intense excitement or apprehension. To try and judge what exactly your rat is feeling so intensely you have to look at it’s overall body language.
What is rat Bruxing?
Rats grind their front teeth together producing a grinding sound called bruxing or chattering. Rats probably grind their teeth together to wear them down (a process called thegosis). But it also means that rats must use their teeth continually to keep them from growing too long, hence the tooth grinding.

Can rats get too cold?

When to take a sick rat to the vet?
If sick, rats will be lethargic, tired, have no appetite, and so on. Keep in mind that you won’t have days to help your rat, but rather just a few hours. Their illnesses can progress very quickly, and you should take your rat to the vet as soon as possible.
Is it normal for lab rats to wheeze?
Almost all rats (other than sterile lab rats) have myco flares at some point in life. If the wheezing continues to get worse or lasts longer than 48 hours, it would be wise to administer antibiotics. Always avoid abusing antibiotics; using them when it’s unnecessary CAN lead to antibiotic resistance.
Why does my rat make a rattling noise?
Rattling is very, very serious. It is usually signs of an advanced respiratory infection that requires immediate antibiotics and a dust & pollutant free cage and environment until the rat is successfully treated. Wheezing is the whistling noise that you will hear while the rat is breathing. It doesn’t necessarily have rattling with it.
