What are DEP meetings?
DEP is a program future Sailors attend before they leave for training after enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Future Sailors sign their contract and then meet with their recruiters regularly to train and study in preparation for life in the fleet.

Are Navy DEP meetings mandatory?
While your Future Sailor waits for their active duty date, we encourage you to become familiar with the Navy by attending the local recruiting station’s DEP meetings. These meetings are mandatory for Future Sailors and they are designed to help them get ready for recruit training.
What is the Navy DEP test?
Preparing for the Navy’s Fitness Standards The assessment will include a 1.5 mile run, push-ups, and planks. Male recruits must complete the run within 16 minutes 10 seconds, the female recruits in 18 minutes 37 seconds or less. Set personal fitness goals, and develop a plan to achieve them.
What is a DEP commander’s call?
While waiting in the DEP, you’ll meet with your recruiter periodically (usually once per month). Often these meetings take place in the form of a “Commander’s Call,” where all the DEPpers attend a group meeting.
Can you miss a DEP meeting?
If you fail to come to DEP meetings chronically without being excused or fail to maintain maintenance check-ins with your recruiter you can and will be discharged. You cannot just sign up and expect to show up on your ship date, it does not work like that.
Can you quit the Navy before boot camp?
Yes, per DoD Directive 1332.14, even if you’re in the Delayed Entry Program, you can legally get out before you ship out. If you tell your recruiter you may be counselled and they will try to convince you to stay, etc. It’s up to you whether or not you’re gonna stay.
How long is Navy basic training 2021?

How long are DEP meetings Navy?
First DEP meeting is in 2 hours. What should I expect? Expect to stand around awkwardly for an hour and maybe get in trouble if you haven’t memorized some of the stuff in your START guide.
Do you get paid in DEP Navy?
Do you get paid while in the DEP? The Delayed Entry Program is not technically an active or reserve program. Until you sign your contract and attend training, you do not generate Military pay or receive Military benefits.
How do I get out of DEPS?
One easy way to get out of the DEP is to do nothing. Simply not reporting on the day the person is scheduled to ship out sends the strongest signal to recruiters and military personnel that the person is no longer willing to become a member of the armed forces.
