The Small Munsterlander has a medium-length coat. Any time he’s been hunting, though, comb and brush his coat afterward to remove debris. The breed doesn’t shed excessively and regular grooming will keep hair around the house to a minimum. The rest is basic care.

Why did the Kleiner Munsterlander dog die out?
Over time, as bird dogs became more specialized, the Kleiner (or Small) Münsterländer’s versatility was less valued, and the breed nearly died out. This changed when commoners were allowed to hunt freely, and a small dog that could hunt both bird and small game became an essential source of food and income.
